The Guild opted to provide a concise and succinct response to the public consultation on proposed draft standards for Chief Pharmacists as launched by the General Pharmaceutical Council back in January 2024.

The general view held by Guild Council was that Chief Pharmacists hold themselves to high standards already, which is partly why or how they find themselves appointed to such a role, and as such it is difficult to envisage what impact formalising such standards would have. We have also touched on wellbeing of Chief Pharmacists and the recognition that burnout does not discriminate based on banding.
